CSA– Membership OPEN!

lloyd-terri-2016-portrait_0004

What is a CSA?   Fancy word for us Sharing our garden with you, and you helping us out by paying ahead to cover the input costs of the garden–The garden harvest season in the Big Horn Basin starts in July with our first frost around the second week in September.  After the frost, cold crops continue into October, with Brussels sprouts and Deadon cabbage the last to be harvested!  We start planning in January, plant starting in March, and garden planting in May…

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture–You are the Community of members (participants, shareholders, supporters) and we are the Agriculture (garden, farm, dirt, plants, food…).

Cost to join–$350 for a 13 week Weekly Share, and $200 for a 7 week Leap-Frog Share (every other week).  You can tag on an additional 2 weeks in October–$50 more on the Weekly Share, and $25 more on the Leap-Frog Share.

Payment terms are easy–pay upfront before May 5th and get an Early Bird Voucher to use in The Store on Thursday’s at Pick Up.  (Voucher is $20 for Weekly, and $10.00 for Leap-Frog.)  Sign up on-line NOW, pay an installment or pay in full.  Cash, check, or with a credit or debit card using the PayPal link.  (Don’t forget to add the PayPal fee.)

Two Rules:  If paying by installments, pay something each month.  All memberships paid in full before July 5th or when the CSA starts!

Travel a lot during the summer months, or have your own garden?  Join the CSA with a Monthly Share:  One Share a month, but the opportunity to shop The Store every single Thursday…or the Thursday’s you want!  Cost is $100 for 3 Shares in July, August, September, and an additional $25 for October.  (Includes your $25 Membership fee.)

What is the value of a CSA Share?  Garden fresh, organically raised produce each week.  We do the work, you reap the benefit…in health from veggies high in antioxidants and nutrient dense…by economically supporting your local grower to help the business grow and be sustained for the years to come.

Don’t delay…Sign up on-line today!  We are making plans for the garden size and getting ready to plant in May.  Seed ordered, transplants are already started and more to follow in the next 4 weeks.  Let us hear from you so we can include you in our garden plans!  Sign up on-line, payment flexibility, and a LOT to GAIN!!  The Farmer’s Wife

Monday at Bee Healthy! Boxes and Produce….information on the Summer CSA

Chief-Samp-Wht

New prices and what produce at Buyer’s Group is posted at http://www.lloydcraftfarms.com , Buyer’s Group tab, What Produce at Buyer’s Group…check it out!  (Chef’s Sampler Gourmet Mushrooms are back!  As well as some really nice looking asparagus!)

You will note that the inventory of greens, tomatoes, and peppers, are down this week.  With the transition to Monday from Thursday and Spring Break this week with a lot of folks out of town, we ordered light.

That said–The Boxes are loaded!  No fruit (other than Avocados for Group B), but lots of other goodies in the boxes.  It was a REAL challenge ordering the right amount for 80 Boxes (actually put together 85), and it didn’t help that the Red Bell Peppers (sold by the pound) were not all the same size or consistent count  (BUT BOY are they gorgeous!)...And to further challenge us, Spokane only sent one case of Romaine instead of two!  (As a result of the shortages, 5 Boxes do not have Red Bell Peppers, 16 Boxes do not have Romaine lettuce, but the Brussels Sprouts were used to offset the difference–12 oz and 1-1/3#–and this kept the box values equal.)

Group A boxes (Saturday Pick up) were held over for those unable to make it Saturday.  Group B Boxes will be labeled ‘Romaine’ or ‘NO Romaine’.  Keep in mind, ‘NO Romaine’ has more Brussels Sprouts, but no Romaine.  “Romaine” has Romaine, and 12 oz of Brussels Sprouts.  (First come, first serve on the boxes–it would be absolute insanity trying to keep them straight if they were pre-ordered and would require more space!)  It will be easier next week as we settle into ordering for one Group instead of two, as we did this week for the transition–And thanks for all your patience and support, and hanging with us through the change!

There will be 3 EXTRA Boxes for Sale–$30.  They have their own unique combination of contents.  🙂   See you Monday at Bee Healthy for our First MONDAY Buyer’s Group/Walk-in’s Welcome!    The Farmer’s Wife

UPDATE ON THE Farm–The Farmer has started the Broccolini THREE times now–First two times they froze in the greenhouse (malfunctioning thermostat that didn’t turn the heater on)…Batch 3 seems to be doing well.  LOST the celery and celeriac this week while we made a business trip to Bozeman, MT.  Overheated and burned up–  SIGH!  Problem with celery and celeriac is they take up to 2 weeks to germinate, and 2-3 weeks to grow big enough! Will start another batch–farmers are kinda stupid…no optimistic…no persistent!

CSA still looking for members who want to eat fresh veggies from July to mid-October.  Garden grown, organically raised with special attention to nutrient dense veggie content grown in healthy ALIVE soil.  Shares cost $100-$450 depending on your chosen frequency–Monthly, Weekly, Leap-Frog…Stop at the end of September or carry it into October.  Sign up on-line at CSA tab–  http://www.lloydcraftfarms.com .
