Veggies @ Bee Healthy…And Pumpkins, too!

It is official–WINTER IS HERE! We will continue stocking our veggies at Bee Healthy and freshing them up and bringing in new items Friday’s— This week we have Lettuces from Greybull Valley Produce, and Snack Peppers, Shishito Peppers, Jalapeno Peppers from Lloyd Craft Farms. Red and Green Cabbage, Broccolini, Carrots with Character, Daikon Radishes, Celeriac, Onions, Organic Sweet Potatoes from Montana, Roma Tomatoes, lots of types of Winter Squash and PUMPKINS to carve and COOK! (6 DAYS until October 31st!)

Peppers are nearly gone…this will be the last week for the Snack, Shishito peppers, and Antohi Frying Peppers. Get them while you can! We have a couple of tubs full of Poblano, Paprika, Pueblo Roasting, and Jalapeno HOT Peppers here at The Farm. Jalapeno are the only ones stocked at Bee Healthy this week, but you can get the others in 5# bags by texting me 431-1219…cost is $11.25. This afternoon I’ll have 2# bags of Jalapenos for making those wonderful poppers…$5.50. Currently we have several of the Jalapeno third# packs for $1.75.

Other items stocked at Bee Healthy are the organically raised Potatoes: Huckleberry Gold and Yukon Gem potatoes, and a couple of 2# bags of French Fingerlings.

Why organically raised potatoes? To avoid the dessicant used to dry down the plants commercially, or any fungicide/pesticides which are routinely sprayed to control pests and dirt bugs. Organically raised potatoes taste better, in my opinion and that of some of our commercial buyers. 🙂

This week we have only Highlander Yellow Onions stocked, but next week with more space we’ll stock Redwing, Sierra Blanca WHITE, and Candy Sweet.

Coming soon, a Broth Bag with fresh Parsley (harvested yesterday from the high tunnel), Celery root, Carrots, Onions, recipes and directions…for either a Meat Broth or Veggie Broth… You’ll be able to buy these ingredients all together and make your own healthy broth. I cook mine in the Instant Pot and store it in the fridge to use for soups and sauces during the winter months. Hope to have this in the store by Friday, our official RESTOCK DAY!

***Well, out to the Shelter to bag potatoes and gather up some orders to head to Cody and Casper tomorrow…Be Healthy, eat your veggies, stay warm and active, and feed your immune system! The Farmer’s Wife***

We have Celeriac, a great winter ‘celery’ with concentrated celery taste and smell, great in soups and grated on your winter salad! (This will store far into the winter, whereas celery is good for about 2 weeks after harvest.)

Stay tuned as we decide what we can do this fall with Special Fall Boxes. They will be posted for sale through this site and our Facebook page. Usually we post on Monday and take reservations until Tuesday, then fill them Thursday for pick up at Bee Healthy on Friday.

Hope you all enjoyed the veggies this year through the CSA! Thank you for your support! Consider planning ahead for next year!

BTW–Our winter Buyer’s Group will start up in January….after we build the cooler at the back of Bee Healthy to hold all the wonderful, organic produce from our storage and Spokane Produce! thanks, The Farmer’s Wife

Last CSA Pick UP– Thursday, October 22, 2020

Wow! 2020 Garden Season is coming to an end–The last CSA Pick Up is Thursday at The Farm, 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Maybe snowing, maybe not! We have insulated the roll doors to make it toasty and warm for the last pick up, and you should be able to enter easily from the west door. The Store at The Farm will be stocked with apples, oranges, peaches, pears, and additional garden goodies. Also, Organic Cranberries! THIS IS THE LAST FOR THIS 2020 SEASON!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful members for a great year. I hope that you were not disappointed! (It was a challenging year with the extreme heat for multiple weeks, short-handedness as our workers were called out to fight fires, and the lingering and somewhat confusing CoVid season.)

Stay tuned: We will continue with Friday and Saturday veggies at Bee Healthy as long as we have them. If we have some Special Boxes for that week, we will put out the word and you can reserve them for pick up at Bee Healthy. The Buyer’s Group will start up in January…stay tuned and get signed up. We hope to operate out of Bee Healthy, but will need to have the cooler completed to keep the veggies chilled and as fresh as possible. It appears we will have potatoes, onions, carrots, Daikon’s, and cabbage throughout these winter months!

Thanks, again…The Farmer’s Wife

More Canning Tomatoes! Ready now- 20# boxes, $25.

We have canning tomatoes! Possibly the last harvest of the season… Text 431–1219 to reserve your box!
