Jicama (Mexican Potatoes–crunch of water chestnut and sweet), Pomegranates ($2.25 each), our own Cosmic Carrot (Wafer-cut 1# bag) and Purple Potatoes (3# bag), ORG Red D’Anjou Pears (harder than a Bartlett and keeps better), ORG Oyster Mushrooms (creamy texture and cooks up wonderfully!), ORG Mint (for your tea or smoothies…good for tummy!)

NOTE-WORTHY!  Yellow Bell Peppers ($1.50 each!), Lacinato/Black Kale (more tender than the Green and slightly different flavor), ORG Cauliflower is BACK ($4.50 each), more ORG Leeks (great recipe for Cauliflower/Leek soup under recipes).

We are at Bee Healthy THURSDAY with fresh VEGGIES and FRUITS–open to the Public (Walk-in’s) and Members (Buyer’s Group) equally!  BEE HEALTHY opens at 10:00 a.m.  Best selection in the morning! 

ADMINISTRATOR’s SPECIAL this week (we made some changes as items came in different than anticipated):

Lots of goodies–wide selection…Lemons did not come in, and only 2 heads of Cauliflower (too expensive to order more this week), but we have the rest of the stuff posted on “What Produce at Buyer’s Group” page under Buyer’s Group tab.

The Fuji apples are wonderful–had a couple today to make sure they were still crisp and sweet–They were! Honeycrisp are always a winner– Bags of the Heirloom Oranges–2 Half Cases available. New shipment of Pineapple and Mangoes and Organic Bananas.

Lots of potatoes, onions, and an EXTRA amount of greens this week:  Living Butter Lettuce, Asian Salad Mix, Arugula, Baby Spinach, Romaine Lettuce, Swiss Chard, and Kale.  (All ORGANIC)

Fresh Herbs are Basil, Oregano, Cilantro, Parsley, Mint, and Poultry Medley…as well as fresh Ginger root and Turmeric!  These go a long way waking up the flavors in our veggies!  Ginger root and Turmeric are great in your morning smoothie!  (And a good addition to your diet!)

Over-supply of Broccoli, as well as Broccolini.  Much, much MORE!

Well!  It has been an interesting 24 hours–the truck came in last night at 1:30 (a.m.) in freezing weather and we got to bed after 2:00 this morning–RESTED NOW and ready to go!  Not everything came in as ordered so we are scrambling to regroup–

ADM Specials will have one of four types of salads, all the contents as presented, and NO Cherry Tomatoes on the Vine.  🙁     Cost will be $21 instead of $25 for this week.  The BOXES will be in four different stacks, first come, first serve (sorry can’t reserve ahead):   

Stack A – 5 oz Organic Girl Baby Arugula

Stack B – 5 oz. Organic Girl Butter Lettuce Mix

Stack C – 5 oz. Organic Girl Baby Spinach

It was a great day yesterday for selling produce!  We moved fresh foods, covered our check, and signed up our last person for Group B–Who could ask for more?  Well….I could…I have enough items to put together 3 more THURSDAY SPECIAL BOXES from perishable left overs.  They are fresh and perfect now, but may not be by NEXT Thursday…so here GOES!!

THURSDAY SPECIAL BOX:
Fruit:  Pint of fresh Blackberries, 3 Heirloom Oranges, and 4 crisp Opal apples.  Veggies:  Bell Peppers, Cucumber, Zucchini, 6 Roma tomatoes, Broccoli heads, 1# Cosmic Carrots, 3# French Red Potatoes, and our own beautiful Red Zeppelin Onion— $25

These three Special Boxes are at Bee Healthy waiting for someone to adopt them and take them home.  They aim to please, and nothing would make them happier than to fill someone’s gut with good, healthy, living food!  Pick them up Friday, Saturday, or Monday at 10:00 a.m. when THE BEE opens for business!

Group B-  Administrator’s Special Box contains 5# of our Satina potatoes and a Jumbo Sierra Blanca white onion (one of the best!).  We have added 1# Broccoli, 2 Cucumbers and a Yellow Sweet Bell Pepper, Organic Girl 50/50 Salad Mix, 3 Heirloom Oranges (=2#) and some organic Ginger Root, and 2 Honey Bear Acorn Squash with specific directions on how to cook them for the most enjoyment and nutrition….we’re all about nutrition and health and feeling good!-$25

Take advantage of the Heirloom Oranges this time of year–order 38# box for $50 ($1.30/#) or a Half Box for $27.50 ($1.44/#) or buy some Thursday ($1.50/#).  These are soooo goood!  They are freshly harvested in California and very juicy, easy to peel– store in a cool place.  Don’t miss out on an excellent source of Vitamin C, a great anti-viral–important as we enter into the cold and flu season–

Highlight in today’s post is the Heirloom Oranges:  Super good!  I only order oranges when the Heirlooms are in stock.  My experience with oranges has been dismal, but part of that is growing up in Southern California where I walked by the orange groves on my way to school, and we ate them fresh!  (I admit I’m an orange snob!) They were juicy, sweet, and easy to peel, though the skin was not as thick as the current day Navels.  I find most the hybrid oranges horrid, you don’t know what you are getting until you get them home, and even in a 5# bag the quality is inconsistent!  They can be pithy, dry, or sour and bland, or just plan tough…

When the Heirlooms appeared on the Spokane list I looked them up and was thrilled!  These are the oranges from which the current day varieties come!  There are only a few orchards still growing the Heirlooms–they do not yield as heavy as the hybrids, and with the softer skin do not store as long in the warehouse.

Heirloom Oranges are available on Thursday’s for $1.50/#.  If you would like to build up your Vitamin C reserve (good idea with cold and flu season upon us!), then order a box ($50) or a Half Box ($27.50).  If you order a box you can chill some in the fridge, juice them from the box (not chilled), and snack ALL DAY!  The juice is unequal to anything you are going to get in the store; even the best juice looses its sweetness the longer it sits– I will have a couple of boxes for sale this week, or you can pre-order for the next week.  Contact me by Text 431-1219, email craftterri@rtconnect.net, or call.
