We are having a heck of a time getting the Celebrity tomatoes in volume or to ripen…but the Tiren (San Marzana type), Speckled Roman (Heirloom), and Granadero (smaller salad paste) are in ABUNDANCE! They are great for Spaghetti Sauce and Salsa–less water, more flesh, plenty of taste, and easy to work with!
(I freeze the Granadero–wash and place in a gallon bag laying flat in the freezer. Once frozen solid they can be stacked. When you get ready to use them, split the skins by putting the frozen tomatoes in a bowl of water: great for Chili and other soups in the winter.)
I will have some 20# boxes of Paste Tomatoes for sale Thursday at The Store. (I can not guarantee that I will have Heirloom or Celebrity tomatoes for the Canner’s–weather has cooled too much and season is coming to an end.) Consider purchasing the paste varieties…AKA Roma tomatoes. $22.50 per box.
I have the parsley, basil, oregano, and thyme for the Spaghetti Sauce recipe. And also the Green Bells and White Onions– talk to me Thursday! (or if not a member, send me a text 431-1219 for pick up Friday or Saturday.)
Thanks, The Farmer’s Wife
