Thank you SO much to everyone who was able to make it for the Saturday Pick Up downtown! We termed it a success! 81 members gathered their shares and the EXTRA’s TABLE delivered limited amounts of broccoli, carrots, beets, tomatoes, cabbage, and hot peppers. Our cooler thanks you!!
19 Shares are set up in the COOLER for pick up on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday–anytime from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If later than 4:00 p.m. call 431-1219 so we can meet you at the cooler.
No Salanova for the rest of the season. We still have about 350 heads flourishing in the garden. Anyone is welcome to Salanova on an individual basis…it cleans up with several washings and is really tender and sweet! Shoot us an email and we’ll have it harvested for you to take it ‘as is’ at Pick Up–
Hope you are enjoying your introduction to Brussels sprouts! They are as they appear right off the plant–only preparation needed is a light washing and the ends trimmed. I am told they are great boiled, fried, or roasted. Last year I experimented without great success–I decided it was because I had to buy them and they weren’t fresh. I’m excited to try some today on the grille and tomorrow par-boiled and fried in bacon. There are some wonderful recipes on-line. More Brussels sprouts should be available next week on the Extra’s Table. 🙂
Fruit this week was a Tropical theme— Mango, Strawberry Papaya, Starfruit, and Baby Bananas. If you missed your Fruit Share let me know ASAP– I think we ended up with one extra. Next week is a BREAKFAST theme with fruit that goes great in cereal and some Reed Avocados for protein.
Thanks again for your flexibility with Pick Up–We will most likely consolidate the Pick Up’s for the remainder of the month–looking at THURSDAY instead of SATURDAY. Location will be at The Farm–Noon to 3:00 p.m. UNLESS we are mudded-out…then we will meet at the Western Sage CPA’s parking lot. Watch for an email notice of any changes–THANKS,
The Farmer’s Wife
