Harvest Week – First Week in July

HEADS-UP ON THIS WEEK’S HARVEST:

SNAP PEAS
CAULIFLOWER
4 VARIETY OF SUMMER SQUASH
RED BEETS WITH TOPS
BABY LEAF SPINACH
RADISHES

Whereas heat slows down production of some plants, that’s not the case with zucchini and its relatives! This week you’ll have the same three varieties of summer squash as last week and a new one–PATTY PAN!

We had to pick last Thursday and Friday, and will be picking again Monday. Your share will include Monday and Tuesday pickings, but we will have EXTRAS FOR THE TAKING while supplies last.

Veggie preparation instructions and simple cooking techniques will be posted on the Recipe page Monday. Check it out–

A NOTE: The Recipe page will give you information on the produce as well as simple ways to prepare it. I myself am a Retro-cook–I retrofit yesterday’s left-overs into today’s meal. Good use of left-overs, fun to experiment with tastes and textures, but next to impossible to share recipes or even replicate the fabulous dish again.

If you have a special way you like to prepare your veggies and would love to share it, send them to me at tcraft@rtconnect.net. I’ll work on how to set them up on a separate page on this blog, or we can start another link with Just Recipes!!

See Farm Tales Monday for A Story of Quiche–

From the first week’s veggies I decided to thinly slice and sautee them, adding a few extras – I made egg rolls! They were fabulous!
Great work guys! I’m excited to see what each week brings! 🙂
